Sigiriya is arock fortress.Also ,it is an ancornt rock placev built on the top of the rock.the entranceof the foress was shaped like alion's mouth.Therefore this rock was called Sinhala Giri.Latter it became Sigiri
Sigiriya was build by king Kashyapa in 5th century.Itis famous for it frescoes.these frecose are world famos painting only second to the frescoesx found inAjantha in In dia.Builiong of the fortress was a wonderfuls stiory .Moggallana and Kashyapa were the 2 sons of the 2 queens of king Dathusena who ruled in Anuradhapura. Kashayapa was the younger son of the two.But he wanted to became frist.He killed his father and became king. Moggallana was very angry about this and he wanted to kill Kashaypa. Therefore Kashyapa run away from Anuradhapura and built a beautiful place on the top of a rock.So nobody could reach him.
The tow females depicted in the painting are very much attractive,the graffiti written on the mirror wall were beautifully co-mopes poems.Now Sigiriya is declared as a world heritage.It is our duty to protect these marvelous paintings and the ruins of the ancient prosperity
